JOHNS STORY “PANORAMA” – I don’t have the issue so no further details are
known. The title of the story is unknown to me
but this may be because a known story has been published under a different
title. Only when I get the issue will I be
able to establish if this is a previously unknown W. E. Johns story …. |

OCTOBER 1940 |
October 1940 was the last ever issue of
20 Story Magazine but it CONTAINS NO W.E. JOHNS STORY WHATSOEVER!! It would appear to me that a story had
been written for this issue called “THE AFFAIR OF THE SCARLET BAND” – but this story DOES NOT appear in the
book of the collected stories(!) Instead, it was published in the April
1941 issue of BRITANNIA & EVE magazine and
appears to have been missed when all the stories were collected
together. Ten stories are collected in
the book and this was the eleventh Dr. Vane story. I believe there is a 12th
Dr. Vane story –because W. E. Johns said in a letter there was. You can read more about that at the bottom
